🌀 The Second Labor of Heracles

In Greek mythology, the constellation Cancer is tied to the second labor of the great hero Heracles (Hercules). Sent by King Eurystheus, Heracles was tasked with slaying the multi-headed Lernaean Hydra, a monstrous serpent that regenerated two heads for every one cut off.

During this epic struggle, the goddess Hera, who despised Heracles, sent a giant crab (Karkinos in Greek) to aid the Hydra by biting the hero's foot. Heracles, with his immense strength, crushed the crab underfoot.
