The Myth Behind the Symbol
The Sea-Goat is often associated with the ancient Babylonian god Ea, or the Greek god Pan. In one myth, to escape the monster Typhon, Pan jumped into a river, attempting to turn himself into a fish. Only his lower half transformed, resulting in the hybrid creature. This represents Capricorn's ability to thrive in both the material world (the mountain) and the emotional/unknown world (the sea).
