Spotting Virgo in the Sky

Look for Virgo between the constellations of Leo to the west and Libra to the east. The easiest way to locate it is to find the brilliant star Spica. Follow the curve of the Big Dipper's handle arc to the bright star Arcturus, then continue on a straight line to Spica.

Best viewed on clear, moonless nights away from city lights. Its sprawling shape resembles a rough "Y" or a reclining figure.
